How I came to Yoga...

Yoga has been an integral part of my life for the past 15 years, and is a practice which I am passionate about. Teaching yoga has come into my life at a somewhat later stage as I was happy following my other great joy in life - working with children! In particular, I was teaching 2 amazing home-schooled children (Coco and Trip - see the lovely pictures!). I feel very privileged to have been part of their education and development and it really inspired me to carry on working with young people. Now 17, Coco has completed her home education with all A* grades and has just finished her first term at the prestigious Kings College Maths School. After 13 years of working with the Starr family, I was left with the question 'what, where, who next??'  It was at the London Yoga Show in 2013 that I had my hallelujah moment - I could be a children's yoga teacher!!

My training...

I had the good fortune of finding the wonderful YogaBeez teacher training, and it all seemed very serendipitous when I discovered YogaBeez was based in Peckham - down the road from where I live. I learned with the wonderful Bryony Duckitt - a brilliant, international teacher of adults and children. YogaBeez combines the traditional ethics and philosophy of yoga with today's curriculum requirements to create a practice that is fun, stimulating, educational, calming and in line with Yoga Alliance criteria. I completed my 95 hours' training and started teaching straight away.

I have a valid, full DBS check, am fully insured and have up to date paediatric first aid training.

Other interests and work...

I care for an elderly lady one day a week. I have been working with her for 10 years; she has a wonderful sense of humour and is a good friend.

On Sundays, I work on a volunteer gardening project in Stockwell that I set up about 6 years ago. I love, love, love (!) plants, animals, nature in general and permaculture!!

In the future...

Next year, I am hoping to start an adult yoga teacher training to deepen my own practice and knowledge.

I am also very interested in forest school training, and I would like to somehow combine children's yoga with this outdoor, nature-based learning.
